About me

I’m a writer from Powys who draws inspiration from myth and fairy tale, and the natural world. I started writing poetry around eight years old, but according to a primary school writing exercise I was determined to be a farmer by age thirty. By age thirteen I was so rarely seen in school that some of the teachers didn’t know who I was, preferring to spend my days reading in Brecon Library. I’m still grateful to those kind librarians who didn’t grass me up to the school, instead leaving me be to read for hours, which was all I wanted to do.

Despite my difficulties with school, I went to university in Lampeter as a mature student, wanting to write, but not knowing how and where to start. I graduated with a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Creative Writing, then a few years later, in 2022, I was selected for Representing Wales, the writer development programme run by Literature Wales, with Jacob Ross as my mentor. I have also been a Hay Writer at Work in 2025, and I completed Granta’s Writing Literary Short Fiction course in January 2026.

I have written for Folding Rock, Lucent Dreaming Magazine, These Pages Sing, Poetry Wales, Literature and Hay Festival, amongst others. I edited and contributed to (un)common: anthology of new Welsh writing (Lucent Dreaming, 2024). I am also co-founder and editor of (un)common magazine, which publishes the work of under-represented and unpublished writers from Wales and elsewhere.

I have written a collection of short stories, several of which have been anthologised or published in magazines, which will hopefully be published in the near future. I have several novels in development, including a fantasy novel which will be published by Seren Books in October 2027.
